Veganuary 2023

Hi Friends!

Happy New Year 2023!  As we kick off the new year, I wanted to share some information that might help if you’re looking to eat more plants and less - or no - animal products in 2023. In addition to running our little food truck, I am a certified Lifestyle Coach and Educator (VLCE) through Main Street Vegan Academy - https://mainstreetvegan.com/.  I don’t usually talk about this, because my focus is on the food truck. As we head into 2023, I am going start sharing resources that you might find helpful if you’re interested in eating more plants, improving your health, reducing your impact on the environment and helping animals.  I hope you’ll find this information helpful, if you’d like to learn more or have questions, DM me!

Veganuary - I first learned about Veganuary when we were visiting our oldest in London for Christmas 2016.   At this point, I’d been eating mostly plant based eating for a couple years and had been Vegan for about three months.    Everywhere we went, there were signs in the Tube with pictures of an adorable little piglet advertising Veganuary.  Needless to say, as a new Vegan, these signs made a big impression on me and I was really happy to see the information in such a public place.  Veganuary is a non-profit organization that helps folks go vegan for the month of January and, hopefully, beyond by sending daily emails with recipes, encouragement and resources to help on your vegan journey.  If you’re interested in giving Veganuary a try, you can sign up here -  https://veganuary.com/en-us/

Meatless Mondays - Would you like to reduce your meat eating but not ready to cut out animal products for a whole month?  Why not try Meatless Mondays?  Meatless Mondays is a campaign to help folks reduce their meat consumption for the planet and health.  They offer free resources, recipes and ideas about how to cut your meat consumption on your own or with family and friends.  Here is the website if you’d like to learn more - https://www.mondaycampaigns.org/meatless-monday

One Meal A Day for the Planet - Want to eat plant-based more than once a week but not quite ready to go full on vegan?  Why not try eating one plant-based meal/day?   One Meal a Day for the Planet means eating one plant based a meal a day to be more sustainable and healthful.  Fun Fact - One Meal a Day for the Planet is based on The OMD Plan a book written by Suzy Amos Cameron of Titanic fame. Suzy Amos Cameron is married to filmmaker, James Cameron, who is also vegan and only served vegan food on the set of his most recent film, the sequel to Avatar (Read more about that here -  https://www.veganfirst.com/article/james-cameron-reveals-his-vegan-values-and-served-only-vegan-food-on-sets-of-avatar-productions#:~:text=Although%20Cameron%20strictly%20adhered%20to,produce%20in%20a%20vegan%20manner.) James Cameron was also one of the producers of the 2018 documentary, Game Changers which shows the advantages of a plant-based diet for athletic performance.    Interested in learning more about One Meal A Day for the Planet and giving it a try?  Check it out here - https://omdfortheplanet.com/get-started/
